Ice Fishing Derby Questions
How many people can be on a team?
Each team can have up to four contestants. Any children under age 18 must be accompanied/partnered with an adult age 18 or older.
What are the categories?
Biggest “big” fish (e.g., Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike) and biggest “little” fish (e.g., Bluegill, Perch, and Sunfish) based on combined length and weight. We will also have prizes for the Best Shanty Design and Closest to the Pin (on our 100-yard green on ice). We’ll track catches on our leaderboard and document with photos.
What are the prizes?
Winners of the top two fish categories will win $500 in Ridge Hotel gift cards, which may be redeemed for overnight stays, dining, marina boat rentals, salon/spa or fitness club/pool memberships, a custom trophy, and some seriously cool bragging rights. Best Shanty Design, Closest to the Pin, and Top Team Spirit prizes TBD.
Must everyone on the team have a Wisconsin fishing license?
Yes, unless they are under age 16. To purchase your license online, click here. At this point, we will not be selling licenses at the event.
Will an outfitter be on site?
We are currently seeking an outfitter to sell ice fishing equipment during the event.
Will there be any refreshments available?
Yes, the Boat House down at The Ridge marina will serve hot cocoa, coffee, and spiked coffees and the Bloody Mary Bar will open at 6am. In addition, we’ll be roasting a pig at the marina and selling pork sandwiches at lunchtime. (Drink and food tickets are available at event check-in.) Music will be piped in from the marina.
Where are the restrooms?
In addition to the restrooms at the marina and hotel, there will be portable toilets nearby as well.
Are dogs allowed on the ice?
Yes, and although they may be a crucial part of the team, they are not counted as a number in the team foursome.
Note: All contestants participate at their own risk.
